The CXO Retreats experience

More than time away.

A carefully designed experience combining honest peer conversation, relevant expert perspectives, wellbeing and the space senior leaders need to reconnect with the person behind the role.

Private · Curated · Confidential

A different kind of executive experience

Built around the realities of leadership.

CXO Retreats creates the conversations, connections and breathing space that conventional executive events rarely provide.

Senior leaders spend much of their working lives focused on organisations, teams, customers, risk and performance. There is rarely enough time to consider the personal effects of carrying that responsibility.

Our retreats deliberately move away from technical agendas, crowded conference programmes and transactional networking. Instead, each edition focuses on the non-technical realities of leadership: pressure, resilience, burnout, mental health, sustainable performance and becoming a better leader for the people around you.

What makes it different

Designed for openness, not performance

Everything, from the group size and setting to the agenda and pace, is designed to help senior leaders lower their guard, contribute honestly and form meaningful connections.

01

Carefully curated

Every retreat is created for a clearly defined leadership community. Participants are selected for their relevance, experience and willingness to contribute.

02

Private and confidential

Small groups and clear expectations create a trusted environment in which leaders can speak honestly about challenges that would be difficult to discuss publicly.

03

Human, not technical

The focus is the person behind the role: managing pressure, protecting health, supporting teams and performing sustainably.

The three core elements

Conversation. Perspective. Space.

Each retreat balances meaningful discussion with expert insight and genuine opportunities to slow down, reset and enjoy the destination.

Peer connection

Honest conversations

Facilitated discussions and smaller peer groups create space to share experiences, explore difficult questions and hear how other leaders are approaching similar challenges.

Relevant expertise

New perspectives

Carefully selected experts contribute practical thinking from leadership, psychology, wellbeing and sustainable performance without turning the retreat into a programme of presentations.

Time away

Space to reset

Mindfulness, movement, time outdoors, shared meals and destination-led experiences provide the mental distance needed to restore energy and return with greater clarity.

The retreat journey

A considered experience from beginning to end

The programme has structure, but never feels like another conference agenda. The pace gives conversations and relationships time to develop naturally.

  1. 01

    Before the retreat

Participants share their priorities and pressures. They are also introduced individually to each Retreat Partner, removing the need for commercial meetings while away.

  2. 02

    Arrival and connection

Time to settle in, step away from the day-to-day and meet the group informally before the deeper conversations begin.

  3. 03

    Shared exploration

Facilitated peer discussions and expert perspectives explore the pressures, responsibilities and personal realities of senior leadership.

  4. 04

    Space and restoration

Wellbeing and destination experiences provide time for reflection, movement and genuine mental distance from work.

  5. 05

    Return with intention

Participants consolidate the experience and identify practical commitments they can carry into their leadership and lives.

  6. 06

    Continue the connection

Retreat Insights, interviews, membership content and future community activity keep the learning and relationships alive.

A trusted environment

Confidentiality makes honesty possible.

The strongest conversations happen when leaders know they can speak without judgement, attribution or pressure to present a polished version of themselves. Each retreat establishes clear expectations around confidentiality, respect and contribution from the outset.

Retreat Partners

Meaningful relationships without a sponsored agenda.

CXO Retreats is supported by a small, carefully selected group of Retreat Partners. Their involvement makes the experience possible, but never turns it into a sales event.

  1. 01

    One person per partner

Each Retreat Partner is represented by only one person, protecting the balance and intimacy of the group.

  2. 02

    C-suite participation

The representative must be a genuine member of the partner’s C-suite and joins as a fellow senior leader, not as a salesperson or presenter.

  3. 03

    Relationships begin beforehand

During the eight weeks before the retreat, each participant has a 30-minute introductory conversation with every Retreat Partner.

  4. 04

    No commercial agenda while away

There are no sponsor presentations, technical sessions, exhibition stands or forced commercial meetings during the retreat.

Familiarity before arrival. Shared leadership when together.

The introductory calls ensure that everyone already knows one another before arriving. They create space for useful professional connections without allowing commercial activity to take over the retreat itself.

Once at the destination, everyone participates in the same leadership conversations, wellbeing experiences and shared programme.

What leaders take away

The retreat ends. The value should not.

  • Greater clarity around personal pressures and priorities
  • Practical approaches to stress and sustainable performance
  • A stronger understanding of how to support struggling teams
  • New perspectives from experienced and relevant peers
  • Trusted relationships that continue beyond the destination
  • Renewed energy and intention for the leadership role ahead
